KATMAI & 260SE On Floats!

We are in the process of requesting a project number from FAA MIDO.  We have a company in Minnesota who will put the first Canard-equipped 182 on floats. In order to accommodate the seaplane mount, the Canard spar and “clips” that the side frames attach to had to be redesigned, thus they will have to be recertified.  We hope the process will be a short one with completion by the middle of this year.

I own a 172 Penn Yan on PK 2300 and am looking to upgrade in spring 2009. What is your timeline to certification in Canada? I am told that the Seaplane West float kit, with a bigger engine and 3 blade prop, the gross wt can go up to 3300 lbs. This is 185 country, but with a wider cabin and Katmai performance. I can’t think of a better float plane to own. I will wait, but just for a while, otherwise 185’s are dropping in price.

I own a 182 p with seaplanes west engine mount and aerocet 3500L floats. i will be upgrading to a larger engine shortly but like what i hear about the tcm 470 and the canard. will this combination be safe, do-able and stc-able. any chance of a gross increase.
